About Mata No Madh
Mata no Madh is the most important shrine in Kutch, dedicated to Ashapura Mata — the goddess who grants hopes and wishes, and the family deity of the former rulers of Kutch. The present temple, rebuilt after the 1819 earthquake, sits in a valley surrounded by hills.
Devotees stream in especially during Navratri, when the temple glows with lights and fairs. The drive through the remote western Kutch landscape, often continued to Narayan Sarovar and Lakhpat, is beautiful in itself.
