About Lakhpat Fort

Lakhpat was once a prosperous port town until an earthquake in 1819 diverted the Indus away and the sea receded. Today its monumental 7 km fort walls — described as 'a wall without a city' — enclose quiet lanes, old mosques and tombs, with the Rann on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other.

The Gurudwara of Guru Nanak's visit, the Sayyed Pir shrine with sea views and the empty grandeur of the walls make Lakhpat one of India's most atmospheric heritage sites. Watch sunset from the ramparts — it is unforgettable.
